Blackout Dates

Blackout dates are specific days, usually high-demand holidays or peak weekends, when a discount, membership benefit, or season pass can't be used at full value or at all.

Attractions use blackout dates to protect revenue on their highest-demand days, when they don't need the extra incentive of a discount or pass benefit to fill capacity.

Clearly communicating blackout dates up front, both in the pass or offer terms and inside the booking flow, prevents disputes and bad guest experiences at the gate. Booking systems that automatically enforce blackout dates, blocking a pass from validating admission on a blacked out day, save front-desk staff from having to make exceptions or explain the policy in person.
