Role-Based User Permissions
Role-Based User Permissions: Glossary Term & Definition
Role-based user permissions control what each staff member can see and do inside an operator's booking, POS, and back-office systems based on their job function.
A front-desk employee doesn't need access to financial reports, and a seasonal guide shouldn't be able to issue refunds. Role-based permissions let managers assign access by role (front desk, guide, manager, admin) instead of configuring every employee individually, which keeps onboarding fast and reduces the risk of mistakes or fraud.
It also creates accountability: when actions are tied to a role and a login, it's easy to trace who made a change, voided a transaction, or issued a comp ticket. As operators grow their staff and add locations, role-based permissions become essential for keeping operations secure without slowing teams down.
