Upselling

Upselling: Glossary Term & Definition

Upselling is offering a guest a higher-value version of what they're already buying, such as a premium package, photo add-on, or fast-pass upgrade, at the point of booking or check-in.

For tour and attraction operators, upselling is one of the fastest ways to grow revenue per guest without adding new traffic. The highest-converting upsells happen where the guest is already making a decision: during checkout, at kiosk check-in, or right before their experience starts.

Booking systems that surface relevant upsells automatically, a photo package during a zipline checkout, a family bundle during a museum booking, convert far better than upsells pitched after the fact. Done well, upselling feels like a helpful option, not a hard sell, because it's offered at the moment it's most useful to the guest.
