Quota-Based Availability

Quota-Based Availability: Glossary Term & Definition

Quota-based availability limits how many bookings can be sold for a specific time slot, resource, or experience type, so operators never oversell a capacity they can't deliver.

Rather than tracking a single overall capacity number, quota-based availability lets an operator set separate limits for, say, guided tours versus self-guided visits, or equipment rentals versus walk-in guests. This keeps one high-demand product from silently eating the inventory another product needs.

It's especially useful for operators running multiple ticket types, add-ons, or resources (boats, gear, guides) off the same base capacity. Booking software that supports quotas at the product level, not just the venue level, gives operators much finer control over what sells out first.
